“The Lord’s justice will dwell in the desert, his righteousness live in the fertile field.”

— Isaiah 32:16

Africa

  • Please continue praying for safety for our staff and the impoverished widows we serve in northern Uganda. Our project area is very rural and often unprotected by police, and violent crime is rampant. Recently, our staff have heard many gunshots in the areas where we work. Ask for God’s protection over our staff as they travel to court and to the field, and that the widows we serve would also be safe as they wait to have their homes and land restored to them.

Latin America

  • Praise God for a strong conviction in the case of an IJM client in Guatemala named Dámaris*. Beginning when she was 13 years old, Dámaris was repeatedly raped by her uncle, a man who has been accused of sexually abusing multiple women. Late last month, he was convicted and sentenced to 33 years in prison. Praise God for the efforts of the entire Guatemala team on behalf of this client, and please pray for her as she continues to work toward complete restoration and healing from the abuse.

South Asia

  • Praise God for eight landmark convictions in South Asia that send a powerful message to human traffickers. On Christmas Eve, eight men were found guilty for trafficking and torturing two innocent men—resulting in the men losing their right hands. It was one of the most brutally violent cases IJM had ever seen. But now those traffickers are beginning life sentences for their crimes. Praise God for this powerful end to the trial, and read more about the case on our website.

Southeast Asia

  • Keep praying for a critical case in the Philippines: As we shared a few weeks ago, three traffickers were convicted in one of our earliest and biggest cases of sex trafficking in Cebu. Praise God that one of the criminals was found and arrested last week, and please pray that authorities will find the other two who remain at-large. The case dates back to 2008, when IJM helped rescue 27 young women, including 14 minors, from a brothel where they had been trafficked. Pray that all three individuals convicted for their crimes would encounter the Lord’s mercy as they serve out fair sentences.

IJM HQ & Global Partners

IJM has partner offices in Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, and the UK.

  • Last year the UK government pledged to end slavery and launched the Modern Slavery Innovation Fund, to which IJM has applied for funding. Please pray for favor over this application as we wait to hear back.
  • Please pray for us as we seek a Director of Infrastructure Services. The primary responsibility of this position is to enable effective use of technology through a secure, scalable and reliable global infrastructure.  This person will lead a team responsible for building, maintaining and supporting IJM’s technology infrastructure, including on premise and cloud platforms.
