The response to the Freedom Sunday focus on human trafficking at NCCTK last week was heartening. (Click here to see pictures.) Many, many people stopped at one of the Hope4Justice tables to sign up for the weekly email, pick up a t-shirt, and to ask, "What can I do?"
The main focus of Hope4Justice is to bring awareness to the issue. We use a variety of ways: website, Facebook, weekly email, guest speakers, showing a movie or documentary, and more. You can:
Review our website: www.hope4justice.org
Friend Hope4Justice on Facebook and repost announcements and posts
Attend -- and bring a friend with you to the showing of "I Am Jane Doe," the documentary about trafficking minors for sex on backpage.com. Date: 10/17/17 from 7-9pm. Location details below. (Preview documentary HERE.)
- Attend "Men of Dignity" meeting. (See below for details.)
- When available, distribute flyers/posters publicizing events
Hope4Justice is passionate about keeping the youth of Whatcom County safe from trafficking. You can:
Learn more: Look over curriculum options on the Hope4Justice website: Resources - Useful appendices/Education sector and watch for a November meeting announcement on this topic
Identify who you might meet with to discuss ways to educate our young people about trafficking signs and grooming: school personnel? youth group leaders? other parents?
Encourage students to educate and watch out for each other by promoting the Hope4Justice $1000 STEP scholarship to local high school, WCC, and WWU students.
Hope4Justice is also committed to working with others in Whatcom County in the fight against trafficking. You can:
- Attend and support Engedi Refuge Ministries in their efforts to restore trafficking victims. See below for dates and times for the "Men of Dignity" meeting and the upcoming Stand Against Slavery event.
- Attend and support Rebound of Whatcom County efforts to prevent trafficking of vulnerable children. See below for dates and times for "Hoptoberfest," "Comfort & Joy," and the 11/16/17 dinner put on by Hope4Justice.
Most important, please pray for Hope4Justice and all anti-trafficking efforts in Whatcom County, in our state, and around the world.
