“How much more severely do you think someone deserves to be punished who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, who has treated as an unholy thing the blood of the covenant that sanctified them, and who has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, ‘It is mine to avenge; I will repay,’ and again, ‘The LORD will judge his people.’ It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.”
— Hebrews 10:29-31
Praise God for a successful community dialogue in a low-income neighborhood of Nairobi, Kenya. This event was organized to strengthen police and community relations in order to address police brutality. Senior police officers, the director of public prosecutions and the director of criminal investigations (DCI) all attended the event and heard the stories of people who had lost loved ones to extrajudicial police killings. The DCI stood up at the event and said, “I stand before you and declare that anybody, be it under my command or myself, that will ever cover-up for someone who has killed an innocent person [...] May God himself curse me. No one will ever cover for a police officer who kills under my watch.” Praise God for people in power standing up against police abuse, and pray for continued movement in Kenya toward a police force that protects and doesn’t abuse the poor.
Rejoice with our Bolivia team for the signing of their first collaborative casework partnership agreement! This partnership is key to extending the protective and restorative services that IJM has provided in Bolivia thus far. It opens the door to equip a local organization and improve their capacity to provide support to child victims of sexual violence and their families. Please pray that as our team meets with this new organization, God will provide us with clear strategies in order to best support the people in their community.
Please continue to pray for ongoing investigations in one of the sex trafficking operations you prayed for last week. The two rescued teen girls have been opening up about their stories and giving police new leads for other potential victims, suspects and locations tied to a private sex trafficking network. Police were able to arrest another suspected trafficker this week, and they are continuing to follow up on new information. Pray that we find every girl being sold by this network and can end their reign of abuse.
This week, a 21-year-old young woman in the Philippines pled guilty to trafficking children and faces 15 years in prison. Before her arrest, she had offered to live-stream the sexual abuse of three young girls, including her six-year-old niece. Pray that in His infinite mercy, God would bring this young woman to repentance. Pray for healing and restoration in the lives of these three young survivors. And pray for strength for the victims’ families and community, as they seek to repair what is broken and keep the children safe from further exploitation.

Please lift up the local prayer gatherings happening in communities across the U.S. over the next few months, beginning with Orlando later this month. Join us in praising God for the volunteers who are leading these gatherings, and please pray that the events would rally more and more people to step into the fight against slavery through prayer.
