IJM Prayer Request

“When a foreigner resides among you in your land, do not mistreat them. The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the Lord your God.”

— Leviticus 19:33-34

Praise God that 23 children were rescued out of slavery in the Ghana fishing industry. This complex rescue operation has unfolded over multiple weeks, with 21 boys and two girls rescued from the same community since the end of April. Pray for the children as they begin the healing process, for them to know that they are safe and protected.

Latin America

Please pray for the nation of El Salvador where our team continues to pursue justice for women and children victims of violence. On Thursday, a 6.6 magnitude earthquake hit the country, creating panic and disrupting residents. Seven aftershocks were also reported. Thankfully, no deaths have been reported by local authorities so far. Please continue to pray for our staff and especially for people living close to the epicenter, that they will continue to be safe.

South Asia

Ask for God’s direction and wisdom as we seek out new grassroots NGO partners to help expand our anti-slavery movement. Working with partners has helped us sharpen IJM’s model for combating human trafficking and reach whole new communities where we could never go on our own. Pray that we could build even stronger relationships with grassroots NGOs who want to help rescue victims of trafficking in their areas, and that we would get the funding to help these partners flourish.

Southeast Asia

Thank God that three teenagers in the Philippines saw justice this week as their abuser was convicted and sentenced to 21 years in prison. The trafficker pled guilty after authorities caught her offering to sexually abuse children and livestream it online in exchange for a payment from a foreign predator. Pray for continued healing and restoration for the rescued girls as they hear and process this news.

Please join us in thanking God for our athlete partners who are using their platform and influence to rally others to seek justice. Ask God to give them creativity and persistence as they build awareness about the scope of modern-day slavery, and cast a hopeful vision about how to end slavery in our lifetime.
