“Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order to provide for urgent needs and not live unproductive lives.”
— Titus 3:14
Praise God for a rescue in Ghana that freed six children last week , thanks to the good work of police and the Department of Social Welfare and Development, assisted by IJM. During the course of several interviews with the children, police and social workers heard accounts of multiple physical assaults that several of the children endured at the hands of their traffickers, visible in the scars that were still on their bodies. Praise God that the police made three arrests despite pressure from some members of the community, and that what they witnessed is making them eager to rescue more victims of trafficking on the lake.
Last year, IJM opened a new office in El Salvador to strengthen the government’s capacity to better respond to violence against women and children. Please pray that God will protect our team members, who work in dangerous areas every day. Also pray He will give us favor with local authorities and community members as we embark in the work of justice in this new country.
Please pray for political stability in the states where we work in South Asia. A huge portion of IJM’s mission to transform justice systems relies on good relationships and participation from the local and state government, so anytime they experience unrest or distraction our teams are held back. There are many places this month where tensions are high and officials are not able to prioritize protecting the poor from violence. Please pray for God’s peace to spread quickly, and that IJM staff could strategize on a way forward in the meantime.
Pray for IJM Cambodia’s team as they build relationships with local officials, partner organizations and church leaders in rural communities across the country. These relationships are critical as we work together to protect victims of slavery and trafficking and prevent abuse from happening in the first place. As we build relationships in these communities, pray for fruitful collaboration that leads to more awareness of slavery and trafficking crimes, more cases reported and more survivors supported as they return home.

Please join us in praising God for this weekend’s IF:Gathering, where IJM shared about our work combatting slavery and called attendees to step into the fight. Thank God for the hundreds of women who took action in response, and ask Him to continue moving in the hearts of attendees to seek justice.
