“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God.”
— Matthew 5:9
Pray for our staff and vulnerable widows in Northern Uganda, as this is peak season for land disputes. Our team is on high alert, investigating reports of land theft and ensuring that our clients are protected. Crime rates and theft are also known to rise during holidays, so pray for our team to be able to celebrate Easter with their families in safety and peace.
Praise God for a 25-year sentence against a former military member who is now being held accountable for raping his stepdaughter in Bolivia. For years, this man used his position of influence and economic power to sexually abuse his stepdaughter, but this prison sentence means he is no longer able to hurt her. IJM Bolivia walked alongside this survivor and her family for three years, providing her with therapy and representing her in court. Please pray for the survivor, now 18 years old, who is starting her studies to become a P.E. teacher. Pray for God’s blessings over her studies and for a great community around her to continue her healing.
Ask for God’s comfort and peace for a young family who tragically lost their six-year-old son to disease just before they could be rescued from bonded labor slavery this year. They had been trafficked into a brick kiln and were forced to work for months when their son came down with an infection. The slave owner refused to let them seek help, and the boy soon passed away. Another laborer managed to make a desperate call to IJM, and we helped coordinate their rescue. Please pray for this grieving family as they readjust to life in freedom and mourn the loss of their son. Pray also for follow-up in this case so the slave owner can be held accountable for his cruelty.
Continue to pray for breakthrough as IJM’s teams in Bangkok and Cambodia work to bring urgent rescue to migrant workers trapped in slavery in the Thai fishing industry. As we work with our partners, pray that God would bring cases of trafficking to light. Pray that we are able to support Thai law enforcement effectively, so together we can find and rescue workers who are victims of trafficking — even as they’re moving between ports and fishing boats — and bring their traffickers to justice.
